To ensure reliability during study selection, implement dual, independent screening. Two reviewers assess each record against the eligibility criteria, blinded to each other’s decisions, ideally using systematic review software. Disagreements are first resolved through consensus discussion referencing the protocol. If consensus isn’t reached, a third reviewer arbitrates. This method, supported by initial pilot-testing of the criteria, maximizes consistency, minimizes individual bias, and produces a transparent, reproducible screening process that upholds the review's methodological rigour.
