A key limitation of AMOS/CB-SEM is its stringent requirement for normally distributed data and its inability to handle very complex models with smaller samples. It demands a high sample-to-parameter ratio and struggles with formative constructs. In contrast, variance-based methods like PLS-SEM are prediction-oriented, robust to non-normal data, and can handle complex models with smaller samples more effectively.
