To conduct mediation analysis in SmartPLS, first specify your model with the independent variable (X), mediator (M), and dependent variable (Y). After running the PLS algorithm, perform bootstrapping with a sufficient number of subsamples (e.g., 5000). Then, examine the specific indirect effect (X→M→Y) in the bootstrapping results. A significant indirect effect (confidence interval does not include zero) indicates mediation. You also compare the direct effect (X→Y) to assess whether mediation is partial or full.
