From my experience teaching social theory, critics argue that Beck overgeneralizes risk as a universal condition. I have seen scholars point out that risk is unevenly distributed and deeply shaped by class and geography. I would recommend reading Beck alongside inequality-focused perspectives. His framework is valuable for highlighting new uncertainties, but it can underplay persistent structural divisions in modern societies.
