Journal paper

I have read somewhere that it is mandatory to publish journal papers if you are doing PhD. So far I haven’t prepared any journal paper that’s why I have no idea about it. I basically want to know about the types of papers. What is the procedure to prepare them?

There are 2 types of papers review and empirical paper. You can work on any one of them. Review paper is a critical evaluation of existing studies on your selected topic of research, thereby summarizing the current status of research on the said topic and an Empirical paper is reporting original research that you have done. So it would involve primary data.
