CMS style guidelines

5 years ago in Dissertation/Thesis By Renu

I want to implement CMS style in my thesis. I have gone through plenty of websites but never did not find the right guidelines that need to be followed. Please provide me the guidelines that need to be followed while implementing the same.

While creating bibliography, footnotes and endnotes in this style, 1.The citation list/ bibliography must be single spaced. 2.The last names of the authors must be arranged alphabetically. 3.Footnote should enlists the author, and title, should be separated by commas. Titles must be capitalised, titles of books and journals must be italicised, whereas titles of chapters should be presented in roman and enclosed within double quotation marks. 4.Endnotes must be compiled at the end of each chapter or at the end of the entire thesis.

Keerthi you haven’t mentioned all the guidelines. While citing author-date, 1.Include the last name of the author and the year of publication in parentheses (with each element separated by a comma). Also, include a page number if you are quoting a particular section of a reference source. 2.Place the parenthetical citation at the end of the sentence referring to the source. 3.When citing works with more than three authors, only the name of the first author must be included, followed by et al. Compile a list of all the sources in a reference list at the end of your thesis.

I know a few editors who are aware of the CMS guidelines and help you implement the same in your thesis. https://www.thesisindia.in/, https://www.phdthesis.in/, https://www.chanakya-research.com/.
