How does AI become "intelligent" and make predictions if it’s not like human intelligence?

If AI's "intelligence" stems from processing data rather than conscious understanding, how does it effectively reason and predict?

AI "intelligence" is a mathematical approximation. Systems learn statistical patterns from massive datasets. To predict, an AI model processes new input data through its learned network of parameters to calculate the most probable output. It doesn't understand concepts; it identifies correlations, making it powerful for pattern-based tasks but brittle and lacking true comprehension or causal reasoning.
