Cybersecurity certifications for job seekers

Which cybersecurity certifications actually make a difference on a resume when you're trying to land a job? I'm looking for the ones that hiring managers really notice and respect.

It depends on experience level. Security+ works well for beginners, CISSP is ideal for experienced professionals, and OSCP or GIAC certifications suit hands-on technical roles. Employers value certifications that match the role you’re applying for.

Hi, thank you Natasha this is really helpful and straight to the point. I like how you matched certs to experience levels. It definitely clears up some confusion for me!

From my experience hiring security analysts, certifications are most useful when they align with a clear career path. For entry-level roles, Security+ or even Network+ shows solid fundamentals. Mid-career professionals often benefit from certifications like CySA+ or CISM, especially if they’re moving toward blue-team or management roles. I’ve noticed that candidates who can explain why they chose a certification often stand out more than those who simply collect them.
