Are there historical or institutional sources on Operations Research in Europe?
My thesis argues that OR developed with distinct national characteristics in Europe versus the US. To support this, I need to locate formal historical records institutional reports, conference proceedings, government documents not just secondary analyses. I'm asking about the type and availability of these primary source materials. Are they kept in corporate archives, academic departments, or national science repositories?

Absolutely, but they are often dispersed. Beyond the sources I mentioned, I have seen crucial material in the corporate archives of former nationalized industries (railways, airlines, energy) and in defense ministry archives, accessible via freedom of information requests in some countries. The records of early EU-funded projects also contain relevant institutional networks. I would recommend a two-pronged approach: a formal search of national science/technology archival catalogs and direct, polite inquiries to long-standing university departments of OR or management science.
