Recent research in HRM focuses on how organizations are adapting to rapid workplace changes. Key topics include HR analytics and algorithmic management, managing multi-generational and gig workforces, and the impact of remote and hybrid work on culture and productivity. Other important areas are sustainable HRM linked to CSR, diversity and inclusion initiatives, talent management in VUCA environments, employee experience design, and HR’s role in digital transformation and change management.

Thank you Jasmin, this is really helpful. You covered a wide range of current issues, and it gives me a solid overview of where HRM research is heading. I especially liked the focus on analytics and hybrid work.

I’d also highlight research on employee voice and participation in modern organizations. With flatter structures and remote teams, HRM scholars are exploring new ways employees influence decision-making and organizational change.

In addition, global and cross-cultural HRM is gaining renewed attention as companies manage distributed teams across borders. Issues like virtual leadership, cultural intelligence, and global mobility are becoming central again, but in a very different, digital-first context.

This is really useful, thank you Meghal. I hadn’t considered employee voice and global virtual teams as key research areas, but your explanation makes their importance much clearer.
