Thematic analysis vs content analysis

I guess you can use thematic analysis because it is an alternative to content analysis. 
  The themes identified here will be re-analysed to make it more refined and relevant. 
  You can then annotate the transcript with the codes which have been figured out.

   I would suggest you to go with content analysis method only. 
   Here you must establish your aims and hypothesis and familiarise yourself with data to develop a suitable coding system. 
   Once the codes have been identified, you can systematically re-analyse data to identify code which can then be tallied.
