DNA fingerprinting process consists of the following steps,
1. extracting the DNA from cells,
2. cutting up the DNA using an enzyme,
3. separating the DNA fragments on a gel,
4.transferring the DNA onto paper,
5. adding the radioactive probe,
6. setting up the X-ray film.

DNA fingerprinting technique consists of
1.Extracting DNA from cells
Treat target DNA with chemicals. This is done to break open cell membranes, expose the DNA sample, and eliminate unwanted components.
2.PCR amplification
If the DNA sample is small, amplify the sample using PCR technique.
3.Treatment with restriction enzymes
DNA is cut up with restriction enzymes and then collided to create new recombinant DNA sequences. Once the DNA is cut to isolate the VNTRs, run the resulting DNA fragments on a gel.
4.Gel electrophoresis
This technique is used to separate molecules of different sizes.
5.Transfer onto Southern Blot
After determination and separation of DNA, transfer them into a medium to record the results of electrophoresis.
6.Treatment with radioactive probe
Treat the DNA with chemical probe to make it visible when exposed to X-rays.
7.X-Ray film exposure
Expose the DNA in blotting paper to X-ray film to make the record visible.
