Is there any legal instrument that defines or prohibits “state crimes against democracy”?
This question arises from democratic erosion debates. Some state actions undermine democracy itself. I want to know if law addresses this explicitly.

From my experience, there is no single legal instrument explicitly defining “state crimes against democracy.” I have seen elements scattered across constitutional law, international treaties, and regional mechanisms. Democracy is usually protected indirectly through election law, separation of powers, and human rights. I would recommend viewing this as a normative concept rather than a codified crime.
