How does constitutional law structure and regulate the relationship between the state and individual citizens?
I’m trying to understand the constitutional foundations of state authority. Most systems claim to protect individual autonomy while enabling governance. I want to see how this balance is legally articulated.

From my experience, constitutional law mediates this relationship by simultaneously empowering and restraining the state. I have seen that constitutions typically grant authority through institutional design while limiting it via fundamental rights, proportionality, and judicial review. The real work happens in interpretation, where courts balance public interest against individual autonomy. I would recommend viewing this relationship as dynamic rather than fixed, shaped continuously by political practice, constitutional culture, and rights-based adjudication.
