What are the main similarities between French and British constitutional law?

This question comes from comparative constitutional study. France and the UK are often treated as opposites. I’m interested in their shared foundations.

From my experience, both systems share a strong commitment to parliamentary government and the rule of law, despite structural differences. I have seen that executive accountability and administrative law play central roles in both traditions. While France relies on a written constitution and specialized courts, and the UK on conventions and common law, their functional outcomes often converge. I would recommend focusing on practice rather than form when comparing them.
