How to choose Research Topic?

I am enrolled in Thapar University for my Phd program in sociology. I have just started my Phd and i am facing some problem in deciding the topic for my research. My guide has asked me to come with 3 topics and a brief about them. I am working on topics since, last 2 days. My eyes are sleepy but i can’t sleep without completing this topic research. I can’t find an appropriate topic related to my subject. My guide wants my topic to be freshly written, not even reframed topic of existing researches.
It’s my request to everybody, pls help me to come out of this problem. I have asked for help from my guide for so many times that now he is going to ask me to drop Phd and sit at home.

Hey there! Try to narrow down your research area and divide it into sub-points, start picking each sub-point and then search for research paper available online related to that subpoint and look how the topics are formulated and then try to formulate the topic.

Only your guide can assist you with the topics. If you are unable to find a viable topic on your own then at least get a rough idea of what might interest you. For this, search through the journals of sociology. Check whether you find anything relevant. You have to think a lot about it and only then you can begin your research.
