How do globalization and social media influence children’s socialization today?

I’m interested in contemporary childhood socialization beyond traditional family and school settings.Global media exposure and social platforms seem to alter identity formation, norms, and peer interaction.I want to understand these changes without falling into moral panic or technological determinism.

From my experience in cross-cultural child development research, globalization and social media expand children’s social reference points far beyond their immediate environment. I have seen children adopt global norms, language styles, and aspirations earlier than previous generations. At the same time, social media intensifies peer comparison and visibility. I would recommend approaching this as a reconfiguration of socialization rather than a decline, focusing on how children actively interpret and negotiate these global influences.
