How can I change my research interest preferences on an academic platform?

I've shifted the focus of my postdoc from extragalactic to planetary science, but my profile on several academic platforms still lists my old interests. I want to ensure I'm visible for the right collaborations and job postings. Is there a standard procedure in the account settings, or does it vary significantly by site?

From managing my own profile and advising students, I can confirm the process is usually straightforward but platform-specific. On sites like ResearchGate or Academia.edu, you'll typically find an "Edit Profile" section. Look for a dedicated field labeled "Research Interests," "Fields of Interest," or "Keywords." I would recommend using both broad terms (e.g., "planetary science") and specific ones (e.g., "exoplanet atmospheres") for better algorithmic matching. On Google Scholar, you must edit your public profile page directly. The key is to save your changes; most platforms update your feed and suggestions within 24 hours.
