Can anyone recommend Latin American novels or films dealing with money and economics?

I'm designing a course module on the cultural representations of economics in the Global South. While I'm familiar with many canonical works, I'm seeking compelling Latin American novels or films where money isn't just a plot device, but a core thematic force. Works that critically examine hyperinflation, neoliberal shock, colonial extractivism, or the social violence of debt would be ideal. Personal favorites that left a strong impression on you would be most welcome.

For a powerful grounding, I always recommend starting with "The Feast of the Goat" by Mario Vargas Llosa it’s a profound dissection of the corruption and economic vampirism of the Trujillo dictatorship. For a visceral take on neoliberal shock, I've seen the Argentine film "The Take" (2004) by Avi Lewis and Naomi Klein resonate strongly with students. More recently, I'd point to Samanta Schweblin's short stories, like "Mouthful of Birds," which use surrealism to unpack the grotesque logic of late capitalism in ways that feel uniquely potent for the region.
