Which Indian English authors are known for grounding their writing strongly in ethical or moral values?

Indian English literature often engages with social responsibility. Some authors foreground moral inquiry more explicitly than others.I want to understand how ethics shapes their themes and narrative choices.

From my experience teaching Indian English literature, writers like R.K. Narayan, Raja Rao, and Arundhati Roy consistently frame storytelling around ethical reflection. I have seen their works engage moral choice, responsibility, and social justice without becoming didactic. I would recommend reading these authors as moral thinkers rather than moral instructors, as their strength lies in presenting ethical dilemmas through lived experience, cultural context, and human contradiction rather than abstract preaching.
