Which contemporary American novels meaningfully explore themes of exile and alienation?

I am interested in contemporary American novels rather than canonical modernist texts. The focus is on exile, displacement, and psychological alienation. This is for thematic and comparative literary analysis.

From my experience teaching contemporary fiction, I have seen exile and alienation explored powerfully in novels by writers such as Jhumpa Lahiri, Teju Cole, and Mohsin Hamid. I would also recommend works that depict internal exile within national borders, where characters feel displaced without migrating. These novels often combine social critique with intimate psychological focus, making them especially useful for studying alienation as both a personal and structural condition in contemporary American life.
