What critical resources are most useful for studying Harold Pinter’s The Caretaker as an absurdist drama?

The Caretaker is often linked to the Theatre of the Absurd. Its ambiguity invites multiple readings.I want to know which scholarly resources are most authoritative.

From my experience teaching Pinter, the most useful resources combine absurdist theory with performance criticism. I have seen Esslin’s work contextualize the play effectively, but production histories and Pinter’s own essays are equally revealing. I would recommend balancing theoretical readings with stage interpretations, as The Caretaker’s meaning emerges through pauses, power shifts, and silence as much as through dialogue.
