From my experience working on cross-country FinTech studies, databases like Crunchbase, CB Insights, and PitchBook are the most reliable starting points. I have seen researchers use them to track funding rounds, firm lifecycles, and regional trends with reasonable consistency. I would recommend triangulating across at least two sources, as coverage and classification can vary. This improves data robustness, especially in emerging markets.
