Was a recognized methodological framework used (e.g., JBI, Arksey & O’Malley)‑ Is this stated?

There are several prominent guides, like JBI or Arksey & O'Malley. As a PhD candidate, I need to choose one and justify it, but I'm unsure if simply citing the seminal paper is enough, or if I need to demonstrate how each step of my review aligns with that specific guide's recommendations.

This is foundational. You must not only cite a framework like JBI or Arksey & O’Malley but anchor your entire method section to it. I have seen reviewers immediately trust a protocol that states, “This review follows the JBI Manual for Evidence Synthesis, Chapter 11.” Then, structure your sub-headings (e.g., “Identification of Relevant Studies”) to mirror their stages. This demonstrates procedural literacy. I would recommend JBI for its detailed, contemporary guidance on every step, including synthesis.
