Think of it as a ladder. Start with non-dilutive options: bootstrap, chase grants, and use R&D tax credits to keep control. Then, for development, bring in business angels or venture capital who get your tech. At the growth stage, venture debt or loans secured against your IP can fuel scale without giving away more equity. The golden rule? Maximize "free" money (grants/credits) early to prove your value before you give any equity away.
