These terms originate in early 20th-century analytic philosophy. Search the works of the Vienna Circle, particularly Moritz Schlick and Rudolf Carnap, and Ludwig Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus. They were used to dismiss metaphysical questions as meaningless, arising from linguistic confusion. The Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy entries on Logical Positivism and Pseudoproblems are excellent starting points.
