Should students participate in curriculum planning and decision-making processes, and why or why not?
Beyond feedback, some institutions invite students into planning committees. I’m interested in whether this practice improves curriculum legitimacy or creates challenges. This question is relevant to shared governance models in higher education.

From my experience, student participation in planning works best at advisory and evaluative levels. I have seen it improve transparency and trust, but full decision authority can strain coherence and timelines. I would recommend involving students in needs assessment, pilots, and review stages. This approach respects student perspectives while preserving academic responsibility. The goal is collaboration, not substitution of expertise.
