The cyclotron accelerator was built based on the idea of using a curved path for a particle accelerator.

A magnetic field perpendicular to the plane of motion of an accelerated particle results in the particle taking a curved path.
Based on the relationship between the forces acting on the particle, it was concluded that the increase in the radius of the path
taken by the particle will be compensated by the increased particle velocity (if the magnetic field, charge & mass of the particle remain constant).

In cyclotron accelerator, the particles to be accelerated will be formed near the gap where the electric field propels them and
magnetic field guides them in a semicircular path. When they return to the gap, the electric field will be reversed.
Although the particle speed and radius of the orbit increases each time they cross the gap, the particle mass and
the strength of the magnetic field will remain constant to which the oscillator can be adjusted.
