Although sanger sequencing method is used to determine the sequencing of long stretches, it cannot be used when a large number of molecules are to be sequenced.
That is when high throughput DNA sequencing is used.

By Pavitra Answered 6 years ago

For large number molecules to sequenced at lower cost, we have to use high throughput sequencing method.

I don’t think there is any limitation associated with sanger sequencing method.
High throughput sequencing is used to understand single-nucleotide polymorphism whereas Sanger sequencing is used for denovo initial sequencing.
