Design must account for 1/6th gravity and regolith. Locomotion requires a robust, stable gait algorithm (likely hybrid wheeled-legged for efficiency). The upper body needs high strength-to-weight actuators for manipulation. The robot requires robust computing, multi-modal sensing (LIDAR, cameras), and extreme thermal/vacuum protection. For construction, it should use in-situ resources and be teleoperated or semi-autonomous with high-fidelity force feedback for precise tasks.
