How can antenna gain patterns be compared and interpreted using Chebyshev amplitude distributions?

In array antenna design, Chebyshev distributions are often cited as a way to control sidelobe levels while maintaining reasonable beamwidth. I want to understand how gain patterns derived from Chebyshev weighting differ from other distributions, and how such comparisons are made meaningfully in both theory and practice.
