Which literary theory would be most suitable for analyzing two chick-lit novels written by the same author?

I’m planning a comparative analysis of two chick-lit novels by the same writer. The texts share themes but also show stylistic variation.I want a theory that captures both genre conventions and authorial choices.

From my experience working with popular fiction research, feminist literary criticism combined with genre theory works particularly well for chick-lit. I have seen this approach highlight how authors negotiate gender norms, consumer culture, and emotional labor while still operating within recognizable formulas. I would recommend focusing on how the same author subtly revises genre expectations across texts, rather than treating chick-lit as static or purely commercial writing.
