Studies show stress narrows attention, reduces working memory, and pushes people toward fast but error-prone intuitive decisions. However, decision quality improves with training and expertise, checklists and decision aids, strong team coordination, and emotional regulation skills. Evidence mainly comes from emergency responders, aviation, and military research.
