What does the field of social gerontology focus on?
I’m interested in the aging population and how society, policy, and individuals interact in later life.Social gerontology appears to study these dimensions, but I want clarity on its focus and research priorities.I’m curious how it differs from medical or biological gerontology.

From my experience in aging research, social gerontology focuses on how societal structures, culture, and policy interact with the experience of aging. I have seen it examine social roles, family dynamics, retirement, and elder care rather than biological or medical processes. I would recommend viewing it as a bridge between sociology, psychology, and policy studies, providing insights into how aging populations live, adapt, and are supported within society.
