What are emerging advanced fields in chemistry?

As someone working on a dissertation at the intersection of materials and biochemistry, I'm trying to orient my post-doctoral plans. The field is evolving so rapidly; I'm curious which emerging sub-disciplines you see as the most intellectually fertile and critical for the coming decade, beyond just the well-hyped ones.

In my experience, the most exciting frontiers are where chemistry loses its traditional boundaries. I have seen tremendous momentum in electrified synthesis, where electrochemistry provides precise control for sustainable molecule building. Similarly, the integration of machine learning for predictive reactivity modeling is revolutionizing how we discover catalysts and materials. For impactful post-doc work, I would recommend looking deeply into chemical glycobiology understanding the sugar code of cells or advanced battery chemistries beyond lithium-ion, as these fields address fundamental challenges with immense applied consequences.
