Understanding Duality in Cosmology and Consciousness

Duality manifests across disciplines: wave-particle duality in physics, mind-body in metaphysics, and subject-object or reason-emotion conflicts in human experience. Philosophically, the question is whether these dualities reflect objective features of reality or artifacts of cognitive and perceptual frameworks. Analyzing dualities clarifies the limits of knowledge, challenges assumptions about ontology and consciousness, and informs metaphysical, epistemological, and ethical reflection.

Duality refers to a fundamental binary structure. In physics, it appears as wave-particle duality. In metaphysics, it's the mind-body problem. In the human mind, it manifests as subject-object perception or reason-emotion conflicts. Philosophically, the question is whether these dualities are real features of the universe or artifacts of our particular cognitive and perceptual apparatus.
