The main difference between these two types of experimental design is that a true experimental design involves random assignment
whereas quasi-experimental design doesn’t involve random assignment.

The true experimental design consists of more than one group with random assignment and commonly measured outcome.
A contrary, quasi-experimental design is used when random assignment is not required.

Unlike a true experimental design, in quasi-design, the treatment groups not only differ in terms of the treatment they receive but also in other aspects.
The quasi-experimental design also includes a rival hypothesis due to lack of control of variables in this type of design.
