Is universal health coverage realistically achievable in today’s global context?
Universal health coverage is widely endorsed but unevenly implemented.I am interested in whether this goal is practically achievable or largely aspirational. This question is important for policy design and development research.

From my experience working with health policy research, universal health coverage is achievable, but not quickly or uniformly. I have seen countries make steady progress by prioritizing primary care, risk pooling, and gradual system expansion. I would recommend viewing UHC as a long-term process rather than a single reform. Political commitment, stable financing, and institutional capacity matter more than income level alone, which explains why outcomes vary so widely.
