Is there credible research supporting the idea that low socioeconomic status might protect against clinical insomnia?

Most research links low socioeconomic status to poorer health outcomes. However, I’ve encountered claims suggesting a protective effect regarding insomnia.I want to understand how scholars approach or evaluate this hypothesis.

From my experience reviewing interdisciplinary health studies, this hypothesis usually emerges from specific contexts rather than general trends. I have seen research suggesting that rigid work schedules or physical fatigue may influence sleep patterns, but this does not equate to protection from clinical insomnia. I would recommend approaching such claims cautiously, as broader evidence consistently shows socioeconomic disadvantage increases sleep disorders when stress, environment, and access to care are fully considered.
