Influence of Eastern philosophical traditions on Western thought.

I’m curious about how Eastern philosophical traditions—like Buddhism, Taoism, or Hindu philosophy—have influenced Western thought. In what ways have ideas from the East shaped Western philosophy, science, or even modern ways of thinking?

Eastern philosophy (e.g., Buddhism, Taoism, Vedanta) has significantly influenced Western philosophy since the Enlightenment, impacting thinkers like Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, and Emerson. In the 20th century, it shaped Transcendentalism, existentialism (via ideas of absurdity and being), and phenomenology. Today, it informs ethics (non-violence, mindfulness), environmental philosophy, and critiques of Western dualism and individualism.
