Several concrete applications are live. 1) Triage: AI flags abnormal scans (e.g., suspected strokes or fractures) for priority reporting, cutting wait times for critical cases. 2) Diagnostic support: Algorithms detect cancers, nodules, or hemorrhages with accuracy approaching specialists. 3) Operational efficiency: AI predicts scan durations and optimizes scheduling to maximize MRI/CT utilization. The challenges are real: clinical validation, integration with legacy PACS/RIS systems, data governance, and staff training. AI isn't replacing radiologists. It's helping them work faster and smarter. The backlog isn't disappearing; it's being tamed.
