From my experience studying social movements, a Marxian lens highlights class inequality, unemployment, and structural exclusion as key drivers of the Arab Spring. I have seen alternative perspectives add nuance by examining identity, state repression, and digital mobilization. I would recommend using Marxian analysis as a foundation, supplemented by cultural and political theories. Together, they better capture the complexity of these uprisings.
