How can I get Digital Object Identification(DOI) for my research paper?
Recently, I received an official answer from some team and I’m sharing with you this, that when you upload a research paperÂ
in any site University guidelines terms, you can create DOI in certain circumstances (i.e., for preprints, thesis),Â
and not for an article or a conference paper because they would have DOI from the publisher.

1. Go to your Research tab
2. Select the research item you would like to generate a DOI for by clicking on its title
3. Select Generate a DOI (if this is not visible, then generating a DOI for this type of research item is not possible)
4. Review the details of your research item to ensure they are correct
5. Click Generate a DOI.

Zenodo, similar to FigShare you get a DOI for ANYTHING you share there and for any version you create.Â
The only data limitation you have is 50GB per entity (paper, dataset, presentation)
Another advantage is that Google indexing is better which might be important for people who regularly participate in the research project or aim to do so since this is the official platform. Last but not least, the service is hosted by CERN and therewith non-profit,Â
so there is still clear the service will stay so for years. FigShare is a company it’s never clear what happens in the future,Â
when they need to make money or when they run out of money.
I got very impressed with Zenodo’s service with great accuracy they provide! It’s exactly what researchers need when a paper is not really available for a broader audience or additional materials should be provided. I better suggest that!
