For a load-bearing car door hinge, a metal AM process like LPBF is necessary. AlSi10Mg is a proven choice due to its good strength, ductility, and printability. While Al7075 offers higher strength, it is difficult to print reliably. For non-functional prototypes, PA12 (MJF) or nylon–carbon fiber (FDM) are suitable for form and fit testing only.
